Trumpeter Swans
Recently, I was out and about and ventured to one of my favorite places in Burlington, that being LaSalle Park in the old village of Aldershot. On Burlington Bay, this 47 acre park is home to all sorts of wildlife – From various species of ducks, swans and geese, as well as countless other birds varieties.
LaSalle is also home to numerous Trumpeter Swans, especially during the winter months, as the bird migrate south from their northern summer homes. Quite often these birds measure in at around 4′ tall, but some have been seen at over 6′ – add to that the wingspans that can be as much as 8′ across, you can quickly see why these birds are the largest waterfowl species in North America.
